PERSONALITY ;; Bel was raised by a sailor and spent most of her time out on the water. In this environment she picked up strict and traditional traits. Everything around her needs to be organized and as perfect as it can get. This goes for training, chores or any projects she's involved in working on. She also looks down upon disobedience, laziness and out-right procrastination. If Bel sees you slacking on the job, she will badger you, taunt you and even lay out physical violence to get your butt back in gear. In most cases, she is the leader for whatever is being worked on, and she has no problem being bossy. It's her way or no way - and her way usually works just fine.
People in the cities don't usually get along with her. Bel is used to a more aggressive environment, where drinking, singing, hitting and cussing is all the rage. It's quite often that she offends a commoner, intimidates them or butts heads with the people with some backbone. On land she treats people as though they were all idiots, and tends to use sarcasm to get her point through. Grace and tact are two things she's not aware of, especially when it comes to things like politics.
On the water, she is one of the few sailors that is a female. The men on the ship take extra care of her because of the fact, but they don't act like her gender makes her the minority. She is an equal human being. Because of this, she doesn't usually pick up on subtle hints of flirting. She's used to lewd comments that are all in jest. Any that are not, she shuts down straight away with a single warning. Romantic is not in her vocabulary, and any actual dates tend to be awkward because of her discomfort.
HISTORY ;; Bel was born in Olivine City within the Johto region. However, because she can't remember her early childhood and her father never spoke of her mother, she isn't sure what happened to her mom, or if she has any other siblings. Her memories start on the ship with her grandfather and her father. With them, she traveled to various different regions and visited the many cities harbouring the water.
Her grandfather was the captain of the ship and her father was his right hand man. The plan was, when her grandfather was too old to keep up with his duties, her father would take over the ship and she would be his first mate. Their family had been doing the very same thing for seven generations, only one woman becoming the captain before. Bel would become the second and lead a new generation of sailors when her time came. However, she needs experience as a trainer first, like those before her did. Watching the other sailors with their pokemon wasn't the same as doing so with her own.
So on her eighteenth birthday, they dropped her off on land so she could start her own journey and gain experience. With the future individual expertise to come, she will meet up with her family again and sail the seas. After the farewell party the ship abandoned her on shore, and now her first step is to collect her lifetime partner. Her goal is to become one of the strongest and most famed captain to live. New relations and surprises are about to unfold as she has to live on land with the people she deems as 'idiots'.
