Kit slid to a sudden stop, nearly tripping over the little kids that went running past in a fast-paced game of tag, if their little squeals of "you're it!" were any indication. A smile spread across her face as she watched them for a moment, then slipped hr two pokeballs off her belt, eying them for a moment, then shrugging and deciding she may as well let them out.
First came Maestro, a rather strangely shaded Treecko her mother had given her before she left Fortree. That had been a surprise. Not the giving of a pokemon, no, but the fact it was a grass type and not a flying type? Yeah, that had been the shocker. Not that she wasn't pleased. She had an affinity for Treecko, and this one in particular, who had scrambled up to sit comfortably on her shoulder within seconds of being let out.
Next came the pokemon she'd just received with her pokedex and five pokeballs from Professor Birch. A taillow. Insignificant in itself, really, but to her the little bird was priceless. A reminder of where she came from, of who she could become, and of everything in between. She had a feeling she'd get along just fine with Stygian, just like she had with her mother's swellow.
With that, she began wandering out of the little town, eager to get started, but at the same time hesitant to. She was leaving behind the life she'd known to make a life that was fully and entirely her own. It was a little intimidating, but she wasn't about to turn around and run back home because of that. As if she could anyway. Home was now days away, out of reach, and she was on her own.
Well, Chase, this is it. Can't stop now.
She murmured to herself, stopping at the edge of town and staring at the route ahead of her. Not like she hadn't been among the grass and trees and all that before. She had, multiple times. But this time just felt different. Bigger. More important. And, really, it was.

Arcelia watched from afar at teh kids. Her faithful companion Emerald. A unique green Swablu was seating on her shoulder in deep thought.
She watched as a girl that looked to be a few years older then her walk up. She watched as she released her pokemon. Arcelia's eyes caught the treeko. It had almsot the same color green as Emerald.. She thought it to be intrguing. Then she noticed the girl's pocket had a device shaped like a Pokedex. "Look Emerald.. The girl is a trainer..." The swablu wasn't paying attention. She was watching a random bug pokemon dart around.
Arcelia got on her knees and crawled to watch the girl's movements. She figured she could steal that pokedex for herself. She would then claim she was a trainer. She was never accepted, due to some lame reasons.
The swablu felt this shift and toke flight. She landed on a tree just above and felt hunger rumble in her stomach. Her trainer creeped along.
Arcelia gathered herself up, she turned to her pokemon. "Emerald. Could you create a distraction?" The pokemon nodded. She handed the pokemon her coin pouch.. Which contained almost nothing. The swablu picked the pouch with her claws and flew out of the bushes.
She flew over the bushes and toward the kids. Then landed a few feet away from the kids. She was in front of her Train'ers target.
Arcelia nodded at the distraction and ran out of the bushes shouting. Her mind focusing on the pokedex. "Hey thief! You stubborn pokemon! Come back here!" She ran toward the girl shouting. She saw the pokedex right there. She said in a distressed voice, "Somebody! Stop that creature!"

It all happened rather fast, in Kit's opinion. One moment, she was passing over that invisible line into the 'wilderness', the next there was a green swablu flitting past her with some girl running after it, seeming rather worried. It distracted her, perhaps, but not much. Not as much as it would take to miss her pokedex, should it be taken. She was a rather observant teenager, which often saved her skin.
The call also woke the treecko from it's reverie and it clambored up to a standing position on Kit's shoulder. It watched for a moment, attention caught fully on the situation at hand, calculating this and that before glancing over at his trainer. She gave a short, decisive nod and, with simple, silent communication, the treecko was off, streaking through the grass, aiming on getting in front of the swablu, climbing a tree, and leaping on the other pokemon's back. And, he moved fast enough he might just pull it off.
Don't worry miss. Maestro's on it, and he's pretty good when he sets his mind to something.
Perfectly at ease, despite, technically, being a new trainer, she grinned at the other girl, clueless on her intents and perhaps seemingly not paying attention. But she always was. She turned her gaze back towards her pokemon, and raised her left hand up, a sort of beckoning call one would expect from a falconer. The taillow returned from it's circles above her head, perching lightly on her loose fist. She knew how to handle bird pokemon, at least, even if she screwed up elsewhere. Though, she was rather determined not to do that.

As the blue bird pokemon flew gracefully down to land on the girl's hand. Arcelia quickly swiped her hand to take the pokedex. She decided really quick to slip it in her bag. That contained lots of coffee and ingredients as such. She shouted on top of her longs. "Oh wow! The grass pokemon landed on the thief!" She knew nothing of different species of pokemon. She didn't have a pokedex to learn from. Well.. Till now.
The swablu flew gracefully and slowly toward the trees. She felt a suddenly pressure as a small creature leaped on her back. Forcing her to let go of the coin bag. She tried to shake the pokemon off by doing twirls. She twisted and turned then went to fly upside down. Hoping that the treeko would slip. She decided to use peck afterward.

She wasn't worried about Maestro, though. She immediately noticed the lack of weight in her pocket. Most wouldn't, she knew that, but she wasn't exactly the 'not noticing' type. She spun instantly, catching the flash of red disappearing into the bag, eye narrowing. It wasn't a good idea to get on her bad side. Not at all. Her rather happy demeanor disappeared instantly, her eyes going cold.
I'll have that back now, please.
If she was nice, she would have suggested the girl not play dumb. But, getting stolen from set her into a rather bad mood, and Kit wasn't always the nicest person to begin with. Her free hand went out in front of her, expecting the pokedex to be placed on her palm. She would get it back, this way, or the hard way.
Meanwhile, Maestro had indeed landed on the swablu's back, holding on through the twirls, but grip always sliding until the swablu turned upside down. Seeing the peck coming, he let go rather than trying to stay on, spinning in the air to land on his feet. He was about to continue, but noticed Kit's dilemma out of the corner of his eye. The swablu wasn't worth it, not in his books, and so he went sprinting back to clamor up his trainer's side and pop back up on her shoulder, ready to back her up in an instant.

Arcelia could not believe it. When the girl suddenly turned and glared her down asking for the pokedex back. She was astounded. Who would've thought that some older girl was going to notice a small device stolen. She gave a sigh and went to get it out. She did not feel like going to jail again.. The police might claim Emerald wasn't her pokemon.. What then?
She went to pull it out knowing it was hopeless. She only had one pokemon, and well no chance. The girl was much older and probably skilled in training. She was probably simply "restarting"."Fine." She pulled the red device out and handed it unwillingly to the girl. Arcelia felt her heart sank, as it left her hands. All that for nothing. A thought occurred to her when the Emerald came toward them. "Wait.. Where did you get the green Pokemon?" Only an idiot would ask how to get a pokedex. She knew the professors would never let her have one. Not until she graduated. However her mind still couldn't let slip how the green pokemon in front of her looked similar to Emerald.
Emerald not knowing the whole distraction was over with. Glided gracefully down to attack treeko with peck.

She softened, slightly, as the girl handed the pokedex back without a fight. That was good enough in her books. She slipped it back in her pocket, leaving her hand in her pocket, as a sort of safeguard, but also because she couldn't be bothered to take it out.
My mother gave him to me.
She replied, instinctively shielding the treecko from the swablu's attack, biting her lip at the feeling of the beak hitting her arm. Not that she wasn't used to it, growing up among bird pokemon. Many, many bird pokemon.
Then, she sighed, almost feeling sorry for the girl. Sorry enough to actually bother trying to help, though she didn't know why. Perhaps it was that lovely mothering nature she was told she had somewhere inside her. The instinct she recognized mostly around young children, under ten, but even now...
Look. I've got... good standing with the professor. Do you want me to go back, say I lost my pokedex and grab you one?
She didn't say how she had said good standing. She didn't want to. If asked about it, her offer would be gone, flying out the window in and instant and she'd be gone.

"Oh please! Please do..." Arcelia said happily. She always wanted to be a trainer. She wouldn't mind if this older girl lied. She would be grateful. She wouldn't have to steal anymore. Well.. That was a lie. All she had to spend was well 50 cents..She calculate din her mind the next time she got her paycheck and how much it was worth. You learn things quickly in the real world. In order to survive it.
She showed Emerald their personal sign. It was a hand shaped bird. Emerald had took the hint. The distraction was off. She flew over to Arcelia and landed on her shoulder. She started to pick at Arcelia's ears trying to tell her she was hungry. Arcelia subconsciously gently swiped her hand at the bird pokemon's beak.

She sighed, chuckling softly as she shoved her other hand in her pocket and walking back the couple hundred feet to the lab door, knowing the girl would be there when she got back out. Who wouldn't be? In the meantime, she had slipped her pokedex into her travel pack, where it wouldn't be visible at all.
Professor Birch looked up, startled to see her again, and she smiled sheepishly, lying through her teeth and managing, rather simply, to get another pokedex. Sometimes it paid to be who she was. As she slipped out the door, he reminded her to be careful not to lose it so easily, as it was valuable and important, and she reassured him she wouldn't. She was pretty sure he had at least a vague clue what she was doing, but that didn't matter.
There. My stuff safe now?
She handed it over, simply joking with the question, though it didn't particularly sound like it. Only the smile on her face hinted at anything of the sort.

She was was bout to walk away when a thought occurd t o her. She turned back around and asked, "Umm.. is it alright if I travel with you?" She waited clamly for an answer.. Till Emerald got on her nerves askingfor food. She opened her bag and went through ti to find a baggie that contained pokemon pellets. She pulled out two pellets and fed the green bird pokemon.

She was ready to just go their separate ways. She really was. She accepted the apology with a nod, figuring that would be that. Then, the girl turned and asked if she could travel with her. She should be saying no, considering what the girl had done, but she wasn't exactly a loner and she had a feeling a friend might be a good thing. So, she smiled and nodded.
Yeah, sure. And feed her these. They're better for her.
She dug out a small bag full of pokemon food specially formulated for bird pokemon. She always had some with her, and that wasn't about to change now that she had her own bird pokemon. However, it wasn't very difficult for her to get more. She wasn't rich, really, but she wasn't exactly poor either. Though, she was attempting to not make phone calls home to her mother for money.
With that, though, she set off for the second time this morning, walking at a decent pace, suddenly more sure now that she wasn't exactly alone. Of course, she just had to go and find herself the desired leader position among their ragtag group of two. It was just in her nature.
Come on.

Arcelia accepted the package of specialized bird Pokemon food. She placed it in the bag and looked at the pokedex. She scanned all the pokemon in the area excitedly. She was joyful the girl agreed to let her go.
She heard the older girl say come on. It registered in her mind to put up the Pokedex and to followed. She walked about a yard, before realizing that she didn't know the older's girl name. "What is your name, anyway?" She said in a calm casual tone. She was to the girl's right side.
Her swablu followed gracefully behind. She seemed to be watching the skys for any sign of unexpected attacks. She flapped her wings once to catch more current of air. She raised half a foot above before.

Kit slipped her thumb from its place over top of Stygian's feet and let the bird pokemon loose again before glancing around Maestro at the girl she was traveling with, not outstretching her hand for a handshake, mostly to avoid tipping the grass pokemon off.
Kit. This green lump is Maestro, and that's Stygian. You're turn.
She shrugged her shoulder at the mention of her treecko, and pointed towards the blue, white and red bird that was flying ahead of them when she informed her of Stygian's name.

//Don't feel bad... I feel as the my muse isn't flowing.... Which is resulting in horrible posts.. Needs more comedy..*thinks*. Either that or get the thread and journey moving. Your calling the shots..// Arcelia nodded at each name. She took a mental note on each pokemon. When it was her turn she finished the conversation. "Arcelia. And the swablu up there.." Her mind twirled at the knowledge of knowing her own pokemon's species. "is Emerald." She felt a joy swelling in her. She was so proud to have a pokedex!

Kit nodded, storing the names away for future reference and shoved her hands into her pockets, sauntering along in such a way she may as well have owned all the land she was walking on. In some ways, she sort of did. Everyone did. It was free land, open territory. All it would take was city expansion to ruin that, but it wasn't like any of that was happening yet.
So... Headed anywhere in particular? I mean, if you were headed to a gym, maybe we could battle sometime. It's good practice.
She tried striking up a conversation, something she was good at some days and other days, not so much. It all depended on her mood, really, and right now she wasn't necessarily in the most talkative mood. But, talking was better than the awkward silence between them.
